Modern Day Daniel & The Lion's Den

God is leading me to add this addition to my story. This summer I knew how my trial went was a complete miracle. I had a deposition for the trial on the 2nd anniversary of my crash. I answered much of it wrong, and changed my answers to the correct ones. Depositions are done under oath, so changing answers typically makes you look dishonest or unreliable. As much as I was not trying to answer incorrectly, I sat there having horribly vivid flashbacks to the crash, and honestly couldn’t remember the details being asked. I should have taken a break during to refocus my mind, but I didn’t. Going into trial I knew it would be a miracle to win.
The first miracle came when the trial date was changed. As hard as it was to have 9 months set on one date, God had a plan. The second came when the insurance company switched lawyers. The lawyer they switched to had a conflict, so we had to reschedule again. At the time this was all difficult to handle, but God had a plan.

In court the jury I had were teachers, people who had been in similar crashes, etc.; all sympathetic when it came to the situation. The lawyer against us opened with things he made mistakes on to our advantage. Our lawyer was in shock by recess just from that. Next came testimony. With both our testimonies the opposing lawyer could have asked many in depth questions, but only asked 3 or 4 very simple ones. He also never really went in depth on all of the changes made to the deposition, which really could have killed the case. I went in that morning with a God peace, and was quickly watching God in action. It was similar to Daniel in the lion’s den, when their mouths were closed. Here I was facing a lion of a different nature, and all he could do was purr like a kitten. I could see the frustration in his face that all he prepared was not coming out in the same way he had it planned. The final miracle was closing arguments. Once again he had pages ready, and yet all the information he said simply agreed with everything our lawyer prepared and said.

To this day every time I speak to my lawyer he is still in shear disbelief to how it all went. He has told me many times that he never saw that many changes on a deposition before, and have it end so favorably.

Everything involving the accident was a miracle from the beginning, so I had no reason to feel that God wouldn’t be with me through the trial. It was surrounded by a ton of prayer, and a constant peace, despite all the changes in dates. The God of Daniel and all the other amazing people we read about, is still the same God of today. It might be different situations, but the miracles and realities remain the same.
